Who are we?
Løkken Minitown is a non-profit association with about 150 members established in 2003.
Our vision is ”to re-create the past for the future” by building a detailed, accurate and complete model of Løkken in scale 1:10, as the town looked around the year 1900.
The finished models of the buildings are exhibited in an area in Vendsyssels Plantage in Løkken. The original layout of the town and its streets is recreated in scale 1:10 with the buildings correctly situated in relation to each other.
The exhibition area also has a photo exhibition showing the urban environments, the buildings and the people in Løkken around the year 1900.
Signs with QR-codes by the models refer to the comprehensive material about the buildings´ history and ownership found in Løkken Lokalhistoriske Arkiv (the archive of local history in Løkken).
The maritime history in Løkken told by ship models
Besides creating a model of the town, we are making models of the types of ships resident in Løkken through the ages. The models are also built in scale 1:10 and are at the moment exhibited in our workshop on Egevej 49 in Løkken.
A good working community creates results
Løkken Minitown has a loyal group of active members - primarily pensioners - participating in a rewarding working community. They use their skills and knowledges in a concrete and meaningful project, reaching beyond the group to the whole of the local community.
The workshop is a very positive and inclusive community with both serious and careful work as well as room for a good talk about matters great and small.
During the last 20 years the volunteers have completed about 65 of the original 150 buildings which were located in Løkken in 1900.
